The Penrose Table was first conceived as a commission for a statement piece coffee table.

Inspired by Sir Roger Penrose, a British Matchmatician and Physicist, and his inveistigation into non periodic tilings. The tiles are an exploration of rotational symmetry and non symmetrical forms.

The top combines a hundred and twenty five pieces of walnut and sycamore veneer, each tile carefully arranged with the grain direction considered to create cubic forms that vary and you move around it. Forty edges are lipped in solid walnut, each one carefully cut at an angle and jointed. The five legged table base draws it's shape from the tiles on the table top, tapering down to it's feet and splaying outwards from the centre.
