The Penrose table is a truly bespoke piece. Inspired by Sir Roger Penrose, a British mathematician and physicist, and his investigation into non periodic tiling. The tiles are an exploration of rotational symmetry and non symmetrical forms. The top comprises of 125 pieces of walnut and sycamore veneer, each tile carefully arranged with the grain direction considered to create a cubic forms that vary as you move around it. The table has 40 edges lipped in solid walnut, each one carefully cut at an angle and joined. A five legged base made of solid walnut takes the shapes of the top diamond profile, tapering down to its feet and splaying outwards from the centre. This piece was commissioned as a coffee table, and is made to order upon request.
