The Elswick range was inspired by my recent move back to Newcastle Upon Tyne. I have drawn inspiration from Newcastle's ship building days. As Newcastle's coal export trade took off, shipbuilding transformed from wooden vessels to steel. In a similar way much of my previous work that featured traditional joinery has now bridged a gap from traditional materials such as oak to an industrial feel of powder coated steel. The name Elswick comes from one of Newcastle's main shipbuilding areas.
