Inspired by and named after Ayrmer Cove in Devon, the Ayrmer chairs were created to offer a customisable multi functional seating system.
The Journey began in Devon, and led me to the Isle of Bute where I sourced 100% natural wooden fabrics, choosen not only for their sustainability credentials and their quality, but also in an attempt to mimic some of the colours and textures found within the coastline surrounding Ayrmer Cove.
The design has endless possibilities of customisation. It consists of three parts, a seat shell and backrest made of moulded plywood which is then upholstered, and a tubular steel frame. This construction allows for one or two colours in the upholstery with a steel frame that can be powder coated to any RAL colour. The design also allows for a swivel base, or a wooden base, and the seat shell and back rest could of course be veneered.
